Miles Heine (M+H Director) was the project architect on this landmark redevelopment of Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiarangi in Whakatane, while working with designTRIBE Architects. This significant development incorporates a contemporary LIbrary, Flexible Teaching, Noho, and Registration Buildings.
Key architectural themes were developed to reflect the kaupapa of higher learning and Whare Wānanga traditions. These themes of higher/ celestial knowledge are manifest through the overall campus planning, key structural elements, as well as the poutama patterns within the precast concrete panels.
